Problem 2.3: What is the difference between sensible heat
From Chapter 2 Problem Set. Level 1: Conceptual Mastery.
Question
What is the difference between sensible heat and latent heat? Which one changes temperature, and which one changes state?
Answer
Show answer
Sensible heat changes temperature without changing phase - it increases molecular motion. Latent heat changes state without changing temperature. It is spent separating molecules, overcoming intermolecular attractions, and creating the vapor phase.
