Chloride’s single negative charge spread over a comparatively large ion weakens its attraction to neighboring cations, keeping separation cost manageable, especially with monovalent cations like sodium or potassium. Once separated, chloride is readily hydrated without extreme reorganization, and dispersion gives entropy strong reason to favor solution. Manageable cost, sufficient payoff, and entropy pushing forward make many chloride salts dissolve readily and stay highly soluble.
