Scale Inhibitor
Definition
A chemical added to interfere with scale formation, buying time against crystallization without defeating the physics.
Inhibitors hold calcium and carbonate apart in supersaturated solution, buying time, not immunity. They shift the kinetics of nucleation and crystal growth but cannot change the underlying thermodynamics. The lesson is that inhibitors delay scale rather than prevent it permanently. They are one of the chemical tools used to manipulate the conditions the blueprint describes.
