Solubility limit

Definition

The maximum concentration of a mineral that water can hold in solution before scale and deposition begin to form.

Past the solubility limit, dissolved species like calcium carbonate precipitate out and leave the water as deposits. This transformation removes them from conductivity readings and from the dissolved mass balance. Rising cycles push species toward and past their solubility limits, which is why higher concentration increases scaling risk.
