CO2 Stripping

Definition

The escape of dissolved carbon dioxide from water, which raises pH and shifts the carbonate balance.

When CO2 stripping outpaces the control response, pH rises because the acidic carbon dioxide leaves solution. Bicarbonate converting to carbon dioxide and then stripping is one of the listed form-change examples. Gas stripping is one of the transformations a free body diagram checks for.
