Condenser water flow rule of thumb

Definition

A sizing heuristic that condenser water flow is about 3 gallons per minute per ton at a 10 degree Fahrenheit temperature difference.

This rule lets an operator estimate recirculation rate from cooling tower tonnage as tonnage times 3 GPM per ton. It feeds the evaporation estimate from recirculation rate and range. It is a practical field shortcut tied to typical comfort cooling design conditions.
