Condenser water loop

Definition

The water circuit that carries heat rejected at the chiller condenser out to the cooling tower for release to the atmosphere.

Warm condenser water leaves the chiller carrying the building heat plus compressor heat, goes to the cooling tower to be cooled by evaporation, and returns to absorb heat again. This is the open recirculating side where water treatment becomes unavoidable. A common design point is 3 GPM per ton at a 10 degree Fahrenheit temperature difference.
