Conductivity and corrosion efficiency
Definition
Higher water conductivity increases the ionic current through the water, allowing the corrosion cell to operate more efficiently.
Conductivity reflects the concentration of dissolved ions that carry current in the electrolyte. More ionic current means the anode and cathode can exchange charge faster, accelerating corrosion. Reducing conductivity is therefore a control lever against destructive oxidation.
