Connection Points
Definition
The physical, chemical, and biological links between components and between pillars through which a change in one place becomes a consequence in another.
Mapping connection points is part of the free body diagram, letting an operator trace a symptom to a cause elsewhere. The Four Pillars are connected by these pathways, so a change in one becomes a consequence in another. Identifying where the symptom and the hidden cause connect is the core diagnostic question on a service visit. They are what make a system more than the sum of its parts.
