Density of Water
Definition
The mass per unit volume of water, taken as 8.34 lb/gal in field water treatment calculations.
This constant converts volumetric flow into mass flow, for example turning 1,000 gpm into 8,340 lb/min. It is a core tool for heat load and evaporation calculations. Accurate mass values depend on this density figure.
