Differential pressure

Definition

The pressure drop across part of a system, whose rise can signal accumulating deposits and biofilm.

Increasing differential pressure is one of the patterns that indicates biological infrastructure is present and active. Along with rising biocide demand and rapid rebound after treatment, it is an indirect surface signal. It helps reconnaissance focus on surfaces, where bulk water tests cannot see.
