Heat-rejection chain

Definition

The end-to-end path of heat from building to atmosphere: building to chilled water to chiller to condenser water to cooling tower to atmosphere.

Every link depends on the others, and the water treater manages the conditions that let the chain function rather than any single component. Scale, corrosion, biology, and solids all converge within the condenser and the tower, the most exposed links. The treater’s job is balance: maximize cycles, protect surfaces, and conserve water.
