Mass transfer of oxidizer

Definition

Mass transfer is how fast an oxidizer reaches a surface, one of the factors shaping oxidation pressure in practice.

Even a strong oxidizer cannot attack a surface faster than it can be delivered there. Along with concentration, pH, and temperature, mass transfer sets the effective oxidizing pressure at the metal. It links bulk chemistry to what actually happens at the surface.
