Percent to ppm Conversion

Definition

The shortcut that converts mass percent to ppm by multiplying percent active by 10,000, since a 1% solution equals 10,000 ppm.

A percent literally means parts per hundred, so scaling 1% up to a million-part basis gives 10,000 ppm. This lets operators quickly convert percent active in a product, for example 12% sodium hypochlorite is 120,000 ppm and 26% sodium chloride brine is 260,000 ppm. It provides a fast reference for saturated brine and product strength.
