Skin Temperature

Definition

The temperature at the metal surface in contact with water, which can be much higher than the bulk water temperature.

Tube skin temperature can drive local calcium carbonate precipitation even when bulk pH and chemistry look acceptable. Biofilm raises skin temperature by insulating heat transfer, pushing the surface further toward scaling. It is a core reason surface conditions diverge from bulk-water measurements.
