Temperature Dependence of Solubility
Definition
The way rising temperature shifts the dissolution balance by weighting entropy more heavily while also straining hydration.
As temperature rises, the entropy term carries more weight, molecules move and collide faster, and dispersion is generally favored. But warming also strains the hydrogen-bond network, making water less effective at stabilizing separated charge so hydration becomes harder and less rewarding. Which effect dominates depends on the substance: sodium chloride stays soluble, while calcium carbonate becomes more likely to form solid.
