Definition
The principle that matter is built from discrete particles held together by electromagnetic forces that determine chemical behavior.
Matter is not smooth and continuous but built from discrete particles, and the forces between them decide whether a substance dissolves, precipitates, corrodes, or holds together under pressure. This is the starting point of the book and the deepest layer of the blueprint. It explains why bonding, solubility, and corrosion are all expressions of the same underlying forces. From it follow hydrogen bonding, dissolution, and corrosion chemistry.
