Condenser
Definition
The chiller heat exchanger where high-pressure refrigerant condenses at roughly 100 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit, releasing its latent heat into the condenser water.
The condenser rejects the heat absorbed in the evaporator plus the heat added by compression. As the refrigerant condenses over the tubes, condenser water carries the heat away toward the tower. This is the critical handoff where building heat becomes heat in the condenser water, and where scale and fouling most directly degrade chiller efficiency.
