Conservation of mass
Definition
The principle that the total mass of reactants equals the total mass of products in a chemical reaction.
In the worked example, 5 grams of chlorine plus 3.24 grams of sodium yields exactly 8.24 grams of sodium chloride. It serves as a check on stoichiometric calculations, confirming the numbers balance. It underpins the reliability of dosage and reaction math in the field.
