Cooling Tower Basin

Definition

The collection point at the base of a cooling tower where recirculating water gathers and airborne particles accumulate.

Anything the air delivers across the fill the basin water receives, and recirculation distributes it system wide. Basin design with deep sumps, sloped floors, and well-placed suction points keeps settled solids away from pump intakes. It is the central site for settling, screening, and turbidity monitoring in open systems.
