Heat Flux

Definition

The rate of heat transfer per unit surface area, which is locally elevated at heat-exchange surfaces.

High heat flux zones raise surface supersaturation, making scale more likely there. These localized conditions intensify as deposits and scale degrade heat transfer. It links the thermal behavior of surfaces to scale nucleation risk.
