Polarity
Definition
The uneven distribution of electric charge across a water molecule, with a slightly positive hydrogen end and a slightly negative oxygen end, created by the molecule’s geometry.
Polarity is the root cause of water’s behavior, summarized as polarity creates bonds, bonds create resistance, resistance creates storage, and storage enables control. The charge disparity lets water form hydrogen bonds and attract charged or polar groups on surfaces. Without this permanent charge distribution water could not adhere, cohere, or store energy the way it does.
