Four requirements for electrochemical corrosion

Electrochemical corrosion needs four components together: an anode, a cathode, an electrolyte, and a metal path; removing any one stops the reaction.
The anode is where metal gives up electrons, the cathode is where an oxidizing species accepts them, the electrolyte lets ions move, and the metal path lets electrons move. Because all four must align, corrosion control can target any single one of them. This framework turns corrosion into a tractable, interruptible system rather than mysterious chemistry.
